Annual CCS Helping Hands Serve-a-Thon

Every year Calvary Christian School of King conducts an event called the “Helping Hands Serve-a-thon”.  This event has a tremendous impact on our students as we teach them to have a servant’s heart, serving the Lord and serving others.

Every student is involved in some way.  K4 through 6th grade students make special cards to share at several nursing residences in the area. (Last year we visited Priddy Manor, Brighton Gardens, Rose Tara, Village Care, Universal Care, Vienna Retirement, and Brown & Douglas Senior Citizens).  Student presentations include Bible verse recitations, vocal presentations and other fine arts performances (poetry, story telling, etc.).

This past year, third and fourth grade students spent the afternoon on campus picking up trash and helping with lawn care, while fifth and sixth graders enjoyed working at Central Park and King Recreational Acres.

Junior high students worked at local libraries and at the King Outreach Ministry. They also served elderly citizens by washing windows and cars, scrubbing porches, cleaning gutters, weeding flowerbeds and sharing special gifts of potted plants.

Other high school students performed lawn maintenance at the King post office and Alpha Acres Men’s Home in Yadkinville. They also cleaned church buses and gave a helping hand at the police department.

Each year this special event proves to be a great blessing to all recipients, students and adult team leaders!   Thanks to all who allow us to serve you and to all volunteers who make this day so special.  Thanks to the City of King for providing several avenues of service.

And many, many thanks to Mr. Luke Benton, the CCS Development Director. Without his dedicated service to the Lord and to CCS, fine tuning logistics down to the smallest detail, this event would not be possible.
