Fine Arts Competition We firmly believe that a child’s education is not complete unless it includes training in all areas of development, which certainly includes the fine arts. A great tool for motivating young people to excel in fine arts is to provide a competitive arena for these endeavors. Because of the many schools involved, North Carolina is a great state for fine arts competition. And in spite of the large number of competing students each year, CCS in King always comes home with a healthy list of winners and high performers.
Every year 3rd – 6th grade Calvary students participate in the North Carolina State Fine Arts competition in the Central region. Categories of competition include: Art; Vocal Solo, special vocal groups and choirs; Instrumental Solo, special instrumental groups and bands; Dramatic and Humorous Speech; Spelling Bee; and Bible Sword Drill. Fine arts competition in 7th – 12th grades gets tougher as CCS students compete on a full state level each year. HS categories of competition include: Art; Vocal Solo, special vocal groups and choirs; Instrumental Solo, special instrumental groups and bands; Spelling Bee; Bible Teaching; Bible Preaching; Science Fair; and Speech (dramatic, humorous, religious reading, poetry, debate, declamation, readers theater and choric). We are very proud of our growing success in Fine Arts Competition with the North Carolina Christian School Association.
